1. Anemone
Anemone is a genus of about 120 species of
flowering plants in buttercup family (Ranunculaceae). Anemones are native to temperate zones. They are found in many European countries, in North America,
and Japan.
Anemones bloom from early spring to late fall depending on the
species. Species of anemone can grow up
to 1.2 meters (4 feet) tall.
Anemone are perennials that
have basal leaves with long
leaf-stems that can be upright or prostrate. Leaves are simple or compound with lobed, parted, or
undivided leaf blades. The leaf margins are
toothed or entire.
Flowers with 4–27 sepals are produced singly, in cymes of 2–9
flowers, or in umbels, above a cluster of leaf- or sepal-like bracts. Sepals
may be pink. The most widespread anemone flower
meaning is anticipation. This is because the anemone flowers close up at night and
open back up in the morning. Due to its wild nature, the flower specifically
symbolizes relaxation and serves as a reminder to enjoy the moment in order to
take in opportunities at the right time. According to the Victorian language of
flowers, anemone flowers also signify fragility. Many varieties are cultivated in gardens for their colorful
flowers.Anemone flowers have also become popular in arrangements for weddings and bridal bouquets.
The most popular anemone species is the Japanese anemone which blooms in autumn. The name “anemone” is derived from Greek which means “windflower.” The name comes from the fact that the
delicate flowers are blown open by the wind, which in turn blows away the dead
petals as well.
2. Sunflower
The sunflower (Helianthus annuus) is a living annual plant in the family Asteraceae, with a large flower head (capitulum). The stem of the flower can grow up to 3 metres tall, with a flower head that can be 30 cm wide. Other types of sunflowers include the California Royal Sunflower, which has a burgundy (red + purple) flower head.

The sunflower is the state flower
of Kansas.
That is why Kansas is sometimes called the Sunflower State. To grow well,
sunflowers need full sun. They grow best in fertile, wet, well-drained soil
with a lot of mulch. In commercial planting, seeds are planted 45 cm
(1.5 ft) apart and 2.5 cm (1 in) deep.
The
outer petal-bearing florets are the sterile florets and can be yellow, red,
orange, or other colors. The florets inside the circular head are called disc
florets, which mature into seeds. The flower petals within the
sunflower's cluster are always in a spiral
pattern. Generally, each floret is oriented toward the next by
approximately the golden angle, 137.5°,
producing a pattern of interconnecting spirals,
where the number of left spirals and the number of right spirals are
successive Fibonacci numbers. Typically, there are 34
spirals in one direction and 55 in the other; on a very large sunflower there
could be 89 in one direction and 144 in the other.
Sunflowers commonly grow to
heights between 1.5 and 3.5 m (5–12 ft.). The tallest sunflower
confirmed by Guinness World Records is 9.17 m (2014, Germany). In 16th century
Europe the record was already 7.3 m (24 ft., Spain). Most cultivars are
variants of H. annuus, but four other species (all perennials) are
also domesticated. This includes H. tuberosus, the Jerusalem
Artichoke, which produces edible tubers.
Sunflower "whole seed" (fruit) are sold as a snack
food, after roasting in ovens, with or without salt added. Sunflowers can be
processed into a peanut butter alternative, Sunbutter. In Germany, it is mixed
together with rye flour to make Sonnenblumenkernbrot (literally: sunflower
whole seed bread), which is quite popular in German-speaking Europe. It is also
sold as food for birds and can be used directly in cooking and salads.
Sunflower oil, extracted from the seeds, is used for cooking, as a carrier oil and to
produce margarine and biodiesel, as it is cheaper
than olive oil. A range of
sunflower varieties exist with differing fatty acid compositions; some 'high
oleic' types contain a higher level of healthy monounsaturated fats in their
oil than olive oil
3. Edelweiss
(sumber gambar:kaskus.co.id)
Edelweiss is a very unique flower. This flower can survive and grow on
the highland where other plants will not survive. Edelweiss has roots that are
propagated or spread only on the surface of the ground. Usually, this flower
has epiphyte characteristic which means this flower needs other plants in
symbiotic way so that this flower can absorb water and nutrients in more
effective way.
Edelweiss has white leaves. The leaves of this plant are spear shaped
with bristle on their surface. The petiole might grow from 3 to 20 cm or even
more. The leaves of Edelweiss are also known for their benefits as alternative
ingredients for traditional medicine. The most popular part of this plat is
definitely its flower.
Meanwhile, Edelweiss flower has about 506 pollens. The pollens are
yellow and have very small size. The pollens are surrounded by petals that
arranged in star shaped formation. The pollination of this flower is usually
helped by wind or animals. The pollens will bloom about 1 to 3 days and after 3
days the pollens will fall.
Edelweiss plant can grow up to 8 meters high in certain condition. The
stem of this plant can grow until it’s as big as human’s foot even though
normally it will not more than 1 meter high. If the branches of this plant grow
strong enough, these branches can be a place for birds to make their nest
4. Jasmine
(sumber gambar: pinterest.com)
The jasmine plant is a genus of vines and shrubs
from the olive family (botanical name Oleaceae). There
are an impressive 200 species in existence, many of which are native to warm,
tropical climates and regions including Australasia, Eurasia and Oceania. The
main reason for this plant’s popularity is its characteristic fragrance.
The jasmine flower is either deciduous (which means
the leaves fall in the autumn) or evergreen (which means the leaves are green
all year round). Certain species stand tall, while others spread or climb. The
flowers typically measure 2.5 cm in diameter and boast hues of white and
yellow. Certain species however are
reddish in colour, although this is quite rare. The flowers are borne in cymose
clusters and showcase at least three flowers. Each
flower has between four and nine petals, four ovules and two locules. They have
two stamens brandishing extremely short filaments, with linear or ovate bracts,
with a bell-shaped calyx.
Jasmine flowers
also boast fruits in the shape of berries that change to black when ripe. Although native to subtropical regions, a number of
jasmine species have become naturalised in Mediterranean Europe. One of these
species is Spanish jasmine (botanical name, Jasminum grandiflorum). This particular variant was originally
sourced from Iran and western South Asia, and is now grown in the Iberian
Peninsula. Other popular species include Jasminum fluminense (also known as
“Brazilian Jasmine“) and Jasminum
dichotomum (Gold Coast Jasmine) – both are
invasive species grown in Florida and Hawaii. Jasminum polyanthum, (White Jasmine), is another
invasive specie, which is actually treated as a weed in Australia.
Jasmine flowers
are widely cultivated for their blooms, and are a popular garden and house plant. In certain parts of the world,
particularly in South East Asia, the flowers are worn by women in their hair

5. Chrysanthemum
(sumbergambar:pinterest.com)
Chrysanthemum (or mum) is a genus of flowering plants native to China that belongs
to the Asteraceae family. It is related to the aster, dahlia, pot marigold, zinnia and strawflower. It is one of the top 5 most popular plants in the world.
Plant breeders are constantly creating new varieties each year. There hundreds
of different varieties available, ranging in colours, sizes and forms.
Chrysanthemums can be two different types: standard and
spray. Standard chrysanthemums will produce a single flower head at the end of
a stem, while spray or bunch chrysanthemums can have 3-7 blooms per stem. In
both categories, flowers can be single or double bloom. Flower forms include daisy, spider, fuji, cushion, button and disbud. Chrysanthemums
come in a wide range of colours, including: white, yellow, red, orange and pink
and bi-colours. Flowering period will vary with variety.
Chrysanthemums are some of the easiest flowers to grow! They
do well both indoors and outdoors. Plant in a sunny spot in fertile,
well-drained soil. These flowers appear in retailers and garden centers from
late summer to fall. In fact, it is one of the most popular plants sold between
August and November.
The chrysanthemum is one of the longest lasting cut flowers
around, lasting well over two weeks! They are also available all year round,
but are especially popular in the fall. As the leaves usually die before the
flowers, it’s best to remove them before placing them in the vase. As well,
chrysanthemums emit a large amount of ethylene gas, so it’s best to keep them
away from ethylene-sensitive flowers, like carnations and orchids
